April 4 at 1:00 at Descanso Gardens in La Canada, California

California Contemporary Ballet will present their excerpts the famous ballet of "Napoli", accompanied by the "Flower Festival Pas de deux".

"Napoli "is a ballet created in 1842 by Danish choreographer and ballet master August Bournonville. Napoli is his happiest masterpiece. Persuaded by his friend Hans Christian Andersen to travel to Italy, Bournonville was inspired by his stay in Naples to create this romantic ballet, which when presented in full, tells the story of the young fisherman Gennaro and his beloved Teresina.

The famous "Flower Festival Pas de deux" from "The Flower Festival in Genzano" was also created by August Bournonville in 1858. The Pas de deux demonstrates a charming love duet between two young people where the steps express both their joy and their teasing playfulness.

A beautiful and must see celebration of flowers and dance! This short 15 minute performance is a delight for small children and the entire family which makes a perfect addition to a spring day walk through the Descanso Gardens.
